Auction to Help Raise Funds
As the need to raise money for this campaign is big, Fr. Swit has sought to find ways to have his parishioners contribute. Though the majority of his flock are too poor to give money, he recently challenged each child to donate enough to cover the cost of one brick. The amount equates to around 50 cents. Adults have been asked to donate the cost of one bag of cement.
On a similar note, last year Fr. Swit also organized an auction asking parishioners to bring goods to put up for auction to finish construction of the outstations. People brought what they could, things like sugarcane, fish caught in the nearby lake, chickens and roosters, fresh eggs, bananas, beans, and other produce. One boy brought a bunch of firewood. Another gave his only possession, his rooster. As a result of their generosity the auction was able to raise over $1,000. What an inspiration this is to us!
